U.S. WOMEN’S NATIONAL TEAM BOWS OUT OF 2023 FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP AFTER FALLING O SWEDEN IN PENALTY KICK HOOTOUT

The USA bowed out of the tournament despite a stellar and dominant team performance over the course of 120 minutes in which it out-shot the Europeans 22-9 while fire 11 shots on goal to Sweden’s one.

The Americans didn't lose a game in regulation time during their four games during the competition, and they only allowed two shots on goal.

The team's loss in the penalty shootout, which stretched to seven rounds, is just the second in World Cup history; the other was against Japan in the 2011 Women's World Cup Final.

Morgan, who had six goals at the 2019 World Cup, has not scored heading into the knockout stage.

Smith, who scored twice in the team's opening game, received a yellow card against Portugal.
